Feline Panleucopaenia outbreak

Multiple cases of feline panleucopaenia virus, also known as “cat plague”, or cat parvovirus, were reported in stray kittens in the greater Melbourne area in early February. A similar outbreak occurred in Sydney last year (2017).

Dental care is unfortunately one of the most overlooked health issues that pet owners concern themselves with. As in humans, plaque constantly forms in the mouth of all cats and dogs. Once plaque has calcified into tartar it can no longer be brushed off. In many cases it has to be removed by a veterinarian using an ultrasonic scaler under general anaesthesia.

Greyhound muzzle laws repealed in ACT!


Previously by law, greyhounds needed to be muzzled when in public unless they went through a special assessment program.  Also, there was a restriction on the number of greyhounds that could be walked at the same time. The ACT Government in June 2017 repealed the enforcement of the Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) of greyhounds in the ACT.
